The Lunar Cycle

Each month the moon waxes and wanes through its cycle, touching each star sign for a few days. As it changes rapidly, so can the emotional states of those people who have strong lunar alliances in their natal charts, hence the moons name, lunar, came from the word lunatic!

Waning: When the moon is waning, it’s on the cycle of diminishing; therefore, it’s a good time to end anything that isn't working, which allows something new to enter your life. The strongest period for the full moon is the period either side of the full moon, 1-3 days. However...

Spell for the Solar Eclipse

Today, we have a total solar eclipse that occurs over Southeast Asia and the western Pacific. This will be the longest eclipse of the twenty-first century, with totality occurring for 6 minutes and 39 seconds. Today is a prime time for magic, as eclipses are rare and wondrous events. Some see the eclipse as a time when the Sun god and the Moon goddess are embracing. It’s a great opportunity to work with the balance of masculine and feminine energies.

Even if you live in a part of the world where the Moon’s shadow doesn’t fall during this eclipse, you can still work magic for new opportunities and to bring change into your life. Light a white candle for the Sun god and a black one for the Moon goddess....

A Releasing Spell for the Solar Eclipse

A solar eclipse occurs as the Sun casts the Moon's shadow across the Earth. It unites the powers of Sun and Moon, light and darkness, logic and intuition. It is "a day without a night, a night without a day," magically suspended from normal routines: a cosmic exception that proves the rule of Sun and Moon.

An eclipse is a perfect time for changing patterns. Use its power to break curses, bad habits, and so forth. Choose a small item representing what you want to dispel....

Invocation to the Sun and Moon

For today's Lunar Eclipse and the Birthday of the Unconquered Sun (Yule), here is an invocation to the Sun and Moon:

Lord Sun, life of day!
In your fire-boat gliding through golden rays!
Extend yourself, with hands of light,
To us who worship in your sight,
And in your ancient names rejoice...

Spell for the Christmas Lunar Eclipse

A total lunar eclipse will take place on December 20/21, 2010. Called the Christmas lunar eclipse, it will be visible after midnight Eastern Standard Time on December 21 in North and South America. The beginning of the total eclipse will be visible from northern Europe just before sunrise. The end of the total eclipse will be visible rising at sunset for Japan and northeastern Asia, it also appears very visible to the Philippines just after sunset (as in Partial lunar eclipse). It will be the first total lunar eclipse in nearly 3 years, the last being on February 20, 2008....

Eclipse Meditation Ritual

Eclipses are opportunities for major transformation; this is a time when the energies of the lunations are more amplified and focused.

Solar eclipses always occur on the New Moon, and Lunar eclipses occur on the Full Moon. The eclipses reflect the lunation they correspond to, but they're much more intense and their effects are more long-lasting, so it is a powerful time for rituals of transformation and release.

For the Eclipse Meditation Ritual you will need:

• a white candle
• salt
• purified or spring water
• incense...

The Solar Eclipse

The solar eclipse is the symbol of the Dark Lord, also called the Lord of Shadows, the Leader of the Wild Hunt, Hades, Pluto and the death and resurrection aspects of Cernunnos, Dionysus — and, on a cosmic level, Shiva, among others. The Christian comparison is the portion of the crucifixion of Jesus when he descends into hell then resurrects. As such, the solar eclipse (the Bible story of the crucifixion states the sun darkened at 9.00 am) is a time for ritual observances that link the practitioner with the death passage portion of the cycle of life....

Magick of the Lunar Eclipse

The lunar eclipse is the symbol of the Crone, also called Hecate, Hel, Mother Hulda, the Snow Queen, Bone Mother, Demeter (when searching for Persephone and the earth's vegetation dies) and Sekhmet....

Spells for the Solar Eclipse

Contact the Faeries Eclipse Spell

An eclipse can be an excellent time to make contact with the Faerie realm. Here is a great how-to that I found at Ancient Magical Recipes:

To initiate contact with the Faeries during the eclipse go out in a place which feels familiar and alive. By that I mean a place in Nature that you love either because you felt close with the Fae or because you have really good memories of that place (for example having a good time) or just because that place feels like home....

Solar Eclipse Magickal Meaning

A Solar Eclipse occurs in nature as a phenomenon when the Moon enters between the Sun and the Earth therefore blocking (or better thinking as filtrating) the light of the Sun. In astrology a Solar Eclipse is a very powerful New Moon, while every month has a new Moon, a solar eclipse occurs approximately every six months. A Solar Eclipse can be seen as a very powerful...

Gaia Healing Spell

Perform this spell during an eclipse or a waxing moon phase. Arrange sea shells on a secluded beach, in the shape of a circle. If you do not have access to a beach, perform this ritual in a garden or forest using stones, branches or flowers to form the circle.

Kneel at the centre facing the ocean. Light a blue candle and incense of your choice. Raise arms high and recite...

Spell To Become A Mermaid

I do not vouch for this spell, but maybe, if you want it badly enough, and if the incantation is said with enough power and comviction... ??

While touching water on a full moon or during a solar eclipse say the following:

Mermaid now let it be.
Mermaid when wet so mote it be.
Human when dry so shall it be.
On land I walk.
In the sea I swim with a long_______(tail color) tail.
Blessed be.

And by the power of 3x3x3.....

Magick and The Solar Eclipse

Throughout the year, the sun waxes and wanes. At the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year, the sun is only visible for a few short hours. Days become longer and at the Spring or Vernal Equinox, day and night are equal. At the Summer Solstice, the sun is visible for the longest period of time (the longest day of the year). Days start to become shorter and at the Autumnal Equinox, day and night are equal again. Finally, as the sun wanes, we are at the Winter Solstice again.

During a solar eclipse, we experience what might be called a "micro year". The sun is whole, then partially or completely hidden, and then visible again. Within just a few minutes, an energy similar to a complete cycle of solstices and equinoxes can be felt....
