The Gypsy Way

The Gypsy tradition goes back to the darkest reaches of time. It uses simple spells and rituals to harness the power of nature and of the elemental spirits that are all around us.

The Gypsy people are as independent in thought as they are in other areas of life, and they don't believe that a clergyman is really necessary to intercede between a person and the 'powers that be'. Although most Romanies would profess a belief in the official religion of the country in which they reside, and indeed many are now born-again Christians, there is still a deep respect for the old ways. And why not, when everyday experience proves the efficacy of those ways?

Everyone has the right and the ability to use the natural power of nature for themselves, though of course, as with everything else in life, some people are more talented than others. The more experienced a person is in the ways of the paranormal, the more confident and thus the more successful he will be come. The power should never be abused on trivialities, such as trying to impress others with your knowledge and ability, as this shows a complete lack of wisdom.

Magic

The Gypsy way is a way that springs from the heart, and the deepest, most primitive instincts of man. It respects nature and man's place in nature. It teaches us to take joy in the moment.

I have always felt the pull; but never understood it until I had a dream. The dream was all to real; I was standing in the midst of these hills with my arms raised, and this beautifull whit glow was emenating all around me. I felt like I was flying, yet at total peace. Then this Cougar, almost like that of an animal spirit appeared to me, and I was shaking, almost as if unsure of what was going on. Then he raised his hand to his mouth as if to say,"SHH" and then he disappeared.

What an awesome experience you had Amy! Have you looked up what cougar energy brings?

If you haven't, a great book for that is Animal Speak by Ted Andrews.

Thanks for sharing that wonderful dream! You are appreciated.

I always felt that sort of pull too, I did geneology and found out I was related to the gypsies in western europe, the "Rom" Gypsies. So I began doing research on Gypsies. As soon as I did the first Chakra thing I began to feel peaceful and powerful, it felt right. I thank you for this site :)

I had the weirdest dream last night i drempt of this gypsy women who had on the traditional gypsy clothing and I was in her tent or room. She told me that she was not giving any readings and I told her I wasn't there for a reading (I didn't even know what I was doing there or why I went there).I the table where she was consulting people and i had a glimpse of the crystal ball as she began to take a seat she started to tell me my future, which was exactly what she told me she wasn't doing. It felt so weird because I never thought about gypsy's nor they ever spoken to me about but the dream felt so real and accurate, and she never even asked me my name. As I was leaving I saw my friend walk in to see her and she asked him for his first and last name. That was some crazy dream.

I, like Amy, also had a dream. I was submerged underwater and I couldnt escape because a tall man had me on a leash. Then this almost magical sea warrior riding a snail with no shell reached forth and grabbed me by the scroddum and told me to be a hero. So after that dream I have always believed in the gypsy way.

I had a dream last night and I was wondering if someone could please tell me what it means. It is very fresh and vivid in my mind, but i will just give you the jist of it. Im walking down a dimly light hallway, looks to be in a castle or very old building. The door at the end of the hallways opens to reveal a dog. For some reason the dog was wearing a mask that was the creepiest, most frightening thing I have ever not actually seen in real life. The dog scammpered out of the room back down the hallway and I followed it straight down the hallway and for some reason we ended up in the same room. Where there was another dog with a mask. Both of them ran through the hallway to the same room where again there was another dog. This happened until there were 13 dogs. the they lead me to a new room where a newborn baby had just been what looked to be mercelessly slaughtered. Im am very scared and confused. Please help me in what this dream means.

Arabian Nightrider, your story is one of great valor. It will go down in gypsy lore for a long time to come. Al Capone was a well established gypsy, and the fact that he helped you out is a good sign. You have been chosen by the High Realm to travel this earth and destroy the "faggots" as you call them. I hope your earthly journey yeilds great rewards!

Will: What an interesting dream! Here are some things to think about. Houses, buildings, and castles usually represent the self. Old houses often indicate the areas of the self that have been neglected or forgotten.

Hallways... walking down hallways often means that you are exploring parts of inner self. If the rooms that the hallways take you to are in the basement, you might be exploring your subconscious. If the rooms are in the attic, you might be exploring your mind or your intellect. If the rooms being explored are somewhere in the middle, you are exploring your current experience.

I'm not sure about the dogs... is someone "dogging" you? is there something that you have been "doggedly" pursuing? What do dogs mean to you? When you think of a "dog" what comes into your mind? If you were to call someone a "dog" what would that mean? Dogs might also mean friends and companions... only you know what they represent to you.

The fact that they are wearing masks means that they are presenting false faces, lying to you in some way, or that they appear to be one thing when in reality they are something else.

Babies in dreams often represent projects that are close to your heart, goals and dreams that you are trying to manifest, something you are nurturing in your heart. They might also represent your vulnerable self, your "inner child", or parts of you that you are working at protecting or nurturing.

If it was my dream, I'd be wondering if my friends really have my best interests at heart, if I'm allowing others to criticize my hopes and dreams or cut me down in other ways, and I'd be thinking about what that baby might represent and how to take steps to protect it.

I hope this helps?

Thanks a lot. I will keep that in mind and let you know if it re-occurs or have other odd or similar dreams. Thanks

I not gonna lie this sounds pretty far fetched to me. I wanna believe in gypsy magic but i'm having a really hard time and in searching myself im finding alot of doubt in my heart, any chance you guys might be able to help make a believer out of me?

It so hard to find attractive and devout gypsy women these days, any one have any ideas of where i could go to meet that special someone? Blessings!

Non-believer: There is no way that anyone can convince your inner self what to beleive. I would say look through the "Browse Magic Section" on the right hand side of your screen. Look through those different topics and see if any of them help you. Try some spells out and see what type of results you get. Try Zee Meditation, and see if you can channel your thought clearly. I would say that if you do all of that, you whould be able to produce an answer for yourself.

Umm... I personally dont associate myself with any bad gypsys. Unfortunatly there are bad people out there, but it cannot be blamed on the fact that they are gypsys. Im sorry to hear about your loss, even though I have a feeling you are taking advantage of this blog. Ja Develehi!

What is it about dreams? Are you saying that people fortell the future with dreams or past or the present? What about people that have numerous dreams about all of those. What is the difference of dreams in black and white or vivid colors? What about dreams of death? Dreams that you have and then you really do them in your life and only remember when you live them out?

Two Feathers said...

Anonymous - to answer your question, the thing about dreams is that they are different for everyone. Sometimes dreams are just your mind defragging, sometimes they fortell the future, and other times they help you to understand your current circumstances. The dreams to pay attention to are the ones that stick in your mind, the ones that you keep thinking about, and the ones that you "know" must mean something. Some people dream in color all the time, other people dream mostly in black and white. If dreams in color are the norm for you - a black and white dream might be important to pay attention to, and vice versa. Hope this helps a little.

Two Feathers, in regard to your interpretation for Will, I would like to expand a little if I might:

I find that Canines of all sorts represent alliances. Be they groups allied against you, or in your behalf. The color of the dog seems to represent the health of the alliance, but I'm not sure if this is always the case. A black dog usually represents a broken alliance.

As for masks, I would not think of them as deciet, but the outward intention. For instance when one goes to war, they are not a blood thirsty killer. Yet they don the mask of bloodshed. At times this is done literally in the physical plane, in places such as Japan. If the masks were scary, what they seemed to denote would be something to pay attention to. Be it horror, pain, malice or some other emotion.

Rooms in general seem to denote that the location, or event is guarded from the public, be it within yourself or a community. Age denotes the care given to the event. So an older building would not have had care as recently, or the event would not have been taken note of. Age, or how traditional the building is, could also denote the gravity of the situation. For instance in your mind a modern house made of particle board I would not expect you to think of as gravely as you would an old castle.

What level you were in, is of note, as Two Feathers pointed out. Though I would clarify the basement, not neccesarily as the subconcious. But as something below notice, that was neccesary to run whatever the building represented. The higher the room is, would signify authority, the highest authority that most people explore of themselves being the intellect. However this does not mean that it is neccesarily the intellect as the building might, or might not represent a person.

A hall obviously is a passage, so it would denote a movement, or change in the event.

The fact that you were chasing the dogs would seem to signify that you would, or have followed one alliance to another. Wether they wore the same mask, or different masks would also be interesting to note. Also wether you followed them out of curiousity, fear, like for the dog but not the mask, or the desire to drive them out, would be of import.

If they were many black dogs for instance. Wearing a variety of masks from malice to sorrow, and you followed out of fear. It might signify that you saw a broken alliance, and followed it to see how broken it was, and to your horror found that another alliance was broken, through detective work of the first alliance.

Such as if your friend or someone was showing malice and you followed it to find that a consort, or another friend was sorry, but had also broken off alliances.

A newborn obviously signfies new life, and thusly could signify a new turn in an old event, or a new project, or truly a new life, be it literal or otherwise. The killing of it signifies that, that new life had been destroyed. But it also could mean that it was sacrificed. Perhaps for some other goal.

If you were scared and confused I would think that it would signify that you wanted that new life, and did not understand why it was sacrificed, or how the sacrifice was better. (In the mind of the one who performed the sacrifice. (not neccesarily the one who was sacrificed.))

Also, wether you felt that the dogs killed the baby, or if they lead you to the killed baby would be interesting to note. If they were white dogs, it might mean that they were on your side, and wanted you to know about the sacrifice, but had to don an outward intention that would frighten you into following them.

If they were black dogs it could mean that you followed what they had done to find it, or that they wanted you to know out of sadistic malice.

Of course if they were of differing shades or colors it would mean that each had a different role or health of alliance. Also if they aren't stock white or black, it could mean that the alliance is not even in a state that you understand from your perspective, as it might be an alliance which has nothing to do with you, except for a passing event.

Anyway, I hope this helped clarify.

Ok, I have always had a strange fasication with nature, especially water, go figure and I feel right at home when I go camping. It's an awesome feeling to just sit there and being surrounded by mother nature herself. Maybe you all can answer another question. How do you know if your gyspy?
But, the reason i wrote is to tell about a dream i have a couple times a week. Really confusing and maybe some can help. I'm biking with my entire 'family' (it extends to my bf and her family.) Anyways, we're biking, laughing and just having a good all around time. Suddenly, all these large craters appear and everyone starts jumping them, their tires landing on a small piece of land between each one. I on the other hand am jumping into everyhole, that so happens to be filled with scripons, sharks, snakes, ells, and etc...And even through i fall into each one, I'm never hurt...just weird for me, I guess.

I've always loved the idea of being a gypsy, ever since I was young. Well, a few months ago I had an odd dream. I was walking with my siblings in a park when we all just started running. I was in the lead when I burst through some bushes and fell over a cliff. I held on to the edge, calling to my brother for help. I saw his face; he had a horrible smile on and was laughing, along with my sister. Then my sister stepped on my hand, and I fell. That's when I woke up. I don't understand what it should mean. Can you help me?

didn't have aycol dreams or anything, but I have always been interested by gypsies and the srts they study. I've just gotten my first tarot deck and I'm actually excelling well. That's saying something for a twelve-year-old. When my dad saw I got tarot deck, he told me about his grandmother (My great-grandmother, whom I never knew- she died just a few months after I was born) was a gypsy and that his mom (My grandmother- she rocks!) knows all about that kind of thing. I'm going to visit her nextweek, because, I don't know why, but I fel some kind of strange...I really can't describe it right... a pull, i guess? when I am using tarot or doing some fth rituals on yur site (I dd the heaig onewiththe amythist- I couldn't beleiv it.)Is it usual to feel something like that so young? Is it usual to feel it at all? And, altough I know I'm young, I've been trying to write a book for the longest time, but havn't had an idea until now. It is about gypsies and I was wondering if I could use some of the rituals and stuff on this site in it. don't want to do anything like that without permission. May I please?
Merry meet, merry part and merry meet again,

Thank you.
I'm sorry for all of the spelling errors in my comment, but I was rushing (Still twelve- still have cerfew)
I just need to waste one more minute of your time:
My mom is weird, she thinks that because I'm into this type of thing, I'm a witch. Whenever she passes me in the house, she does that stupid crossed-fingers thing, so we generally stay away from each other now. It's really starting to bug me that we can't spend any mother-daughter time anymore, but I don't feel like I can just give up learning and practicing these things.
Do you have any advice on how I can warm her up to these things?

My grandfather has resently died, but before he went into the hospital he told me that one of our ancestors from northern Ireland was kidnapped by gypsies and taken down to southern Ireland. That makes me belive that I may be part gypsy because you never know what may have happened next. Plus I have always had feelings and dreams very often of events that happen before it did. I'm a 15 year old boy, can I have the powers?

Hi, I somehow am still up at 6am in austin though I've always been a nite person. Anyhow, The thought came to me to look up the word gypsy since I've been called one before by total strangers..your thoughts and messages are good to read. I had a dream of a white owl a while back, been obsessed with it ever since. Also eagle, hawk, wolf and bear, and oddly enough the dolphin is intriguing me at this time..anyhow..I wish that I could do my geneology but can't find my dad's real father..but doing some reading and going with what Iam drawn to..Thanks again, EagleWind~

Whisper+breathe said...

Eaglewind you sound like a shaman. Cool. And from what I can remember about reading on the animals for shamans you are having some pretty good ones. (Though I have forgotten if your suppose to see them in real life to. ) But then again I don't really know much about shamans, so look up more about it and don't just go on my word, lol. As for gypsies... when I was 7 I started feeling a connection with the trees and plants around me. At times I can ask for it to become windy and it would get windy. Very calming to hear leaves rustle. Can gypsies make the wind blow by simply asking for it? Also what does it mean if you don't dream all the time? The only times I dream are the times I have Day-ja-vou. But, last night I had a clear full blown dream. It was a rich girls house, a very nice house with wooden floors, stairs, the walls were a light yellow, doors a reddish wooden brown. A girl with blond hair and a blue dress with white laces were telling people what to do. I apparently was one of her friends. There were two others that were her friends as well. The Blond girl used money to get us to do what she wanted. She gave me about 5 50$ bills just to keep quiet and now question her about how she treats her servants. (I counted the bills; there were two more of them after I was done counting) then I felt sorry for her servants, (They were huddling together with a mop and bucket looking miserable.) so I asked them if they were paid but also I hid the money behind my back because I wasn't sure if they would tell the truth or not. I didn't want them getting any of the money the girl gave me unless they really needed it. (Now that I think about it. they were not the only ones who were greedy.) The two lady servants were not so good looking and when I asked one of them if they were paid she said no. Then I asked if she knew I had money behind my back and she said yes and started laughing. As if to say "silly little girl of course I know!" (During my dream I knew that she was lying about not being paid.)When I woke up I felt distrust and some sort of understanding of the dream. I told the blond girl that she just can't keep buying her way out of thing, that she is going to get in trouble soon, it left me feeling sort of hope less when she waved me off with her hand to be quiet. This has been one of the most complex dreams I have ever had. Most are not even 5 min long. But this dream had dimensions, colors, all sorts of sounds, even a story line that I don't understand fully why I had dreamt it.

So what does that blond girl mean? Why did I even bother asking or even trying to help her or her servants? I think the blond girl was 13, I was 12, and the other two friends were 15 and 14. The Maids ages looked to be about 37 to 30. The servant I talked to was kind of chubby. All of the clothing and housing was like old fashion. But I think that is because I like old stuff. (Like antiques and traditions. :) )

Can someone tell me more about this dream?
Thanks for the cool web sight! :D

I BEEN HAVING DREAMS OF GYPSY PEOPLE WITH DANCING AND PROTECTING ME WHAT DOES IT MEANS

Two Feathers said...

Looks like I'm having trouble keeping up with the comments on this post...

Anonymous - your dreams of gypsies dancing sounds to me like you are protected by magic.

Whisper+Breathe - everyone dreams, it's just that we don't often remember our dreams.

Eagle Wind - thanks for visiting, hoping this site was helpful in some small way.

To everyone asking for dream interpretations - here is my best advice:

An excellent way to interpret your dreams is to start a dream journal - as soon as you wake up, write down the dreams that you can remember - make notes of what you think they might mean - and then keep track of what happens later on. The more you work with your dreams, the more you can learn from them. The best person to tell you what a dream means is yourself, or someone who knows you really well - and that's because dream symbols are personal and have totally different meanings for different people.

Blessings to all of you!
Sorry for the long delayed response.

Two Feathers said...

Victoria - sometimes mother and daughter relationships are difficult. Sometimes it's helpful to really listen to the other person's point of view... you don't have to agree, nor do you have to convince them that your opinions are right.

Just listen, not just to the words, but the feelings behind the words. And then tell her you love her. If you do that enough times, it's possible that she will begin to soften towards your viewpoints and ideas. And even if the two of you never agree, the listening and the loving will go a long way towards making a better relationship between the two of you.

Gypsies have always facinated me, when someone read my daily tarot I felt compelled to start it, every day I would wake up and wish that I could start. Finally I managed to get a deck of tarot cards and a book, but, as I'm 12, everything confuses me. It would be fantastic if you could direct me to a site that explains it easily so that I don't interpret things in the wrong way, I love your site, its so full of information that's so interesting, Blessings

I have always been told the I have gypsy blood running through my veins, and that my ancestors were pretty powerful, I was told these powers, vibes and feelings are strongest with the 10 generation and that would be me.I would show that I wasn't sure if they were full of it or not but I knew deep inside it was true. Alot of strange things happen around me all the time and I have "instincts" that are 99% correct, good and the bad. I am able to understand my dreams most of the time and I have reoccuring dreams since I was a child. At least 15 I've had more than 5 times each in my life. I have tarrot cards that are 7th generation old, and just recently I found I was reading them the right way, It came naturally for me to place them where I do and according to most books I read, they are in the right position.(It felt right). This is the first time I've tried searching for anyone from the accient blood line, if anyone knows any other sites or people that date back to the handful of us, please let me know.

I too had a dream about Gypsy's last night. it was very strange for me.

My name is Nicole. I am pagan have been pagan for over 18 years. I do a lot of work threw dreams but this one has me stumped. I am posting about it in hopes someone can shed some light on it. If not, I understand.

the dream it self was about me coming across some Gypsy's that had been separated from the group they were traveling with. I never found out why they were separated. they were all on foot. and I seemed to be as well. They were part of a carnival I think. I could be wrong on that because carnival and caravan are close sounding. any how I was talking to the man that seemed to be the one making the decisions at the time. I told him that I was fascinated by the Gypsy culture.
He was waring mostly black with some dark colors. he had both his ears pierced with gold hoops and small gold coins. one on each hoop. He thanked me for my kindness and then wanted to offer me a blessing. then he grabbed me tossed me over one arm and put either a finger or thumb on the back of my neck right where the head meets the neck. At first I felt a tingle of energy and then it got stronger. It kept getting stronger till it started hurting. I started screaming from the pain and he was not stopping. then I woke up. My head has hurt ever sense.
I have no Idea what to make of that dream. was it a blessing or was it something not good??

one other tidbit I'd like to add is I know I was a Gypsy in a past life. I have a total recall of my sister(past life sister) being killed by a lord who was mad over the tarot reading she gave his wife. I dont know if that plays into the dream at all or not.
I hope someone can shed some light on this for me.

Have always felt an affinity. don't think I have any gypsy blood as such, but then my mother didn't know her father so who knows. I love gypsies rhythm of life and they great connection to the earth.
The other night I had a dream about taking the reins of a horse and cart, although the guides here who handed me the reins where native american, rather than gypsy.
One of the most vivid heartwarming dreams I had was surverying green hills and countryside and being asked to care for it - like a warden for nature. I think this goes along with the gypsy sentiment towards nature too?
