Current News

I am currently in the process of migrating the content shared here to a series of new websites hosted at shirleytwofeathers.com.

As you explore this site, you may find links to a "page not found" instead of something cool and magickal. For this I apologize. I am very working hard behind the scenes to restore those pages along with a link to their homes on my new website where they can be viewed in full.

Four Winds Wishing Spell

There are many spells designed to carry a secret wish into the universe when the productive powers of creation can bring its realization into being. Nearly all spells make use of the tremendously powerful process of creative visualization.

The following spell courts the favor of the 4 winds or the energies of the compass points. For this spell you will need to ascertain North then find South, East and West.

The 4 winds were given magical names by the ancient Greeks - Boreas, Eureus, Notus and Zephyrus - it is these forces together with those of the elemental spirits of air, water, fire and earth, that are called upon in the spell to carry your wish to the four points of the universe....

Shooting the Moon

The arrow was sacred to Artemis (Diana), and was considered to carry special powers and blessings. This is a very old spell, which incorporates symbols which are placed along the shaft of an arrow. Traditionally this was performed on the shore of a lake, or other calm body of water (such as a Bay). It was necessary to be able to see the "path of the Moon" in the water. This "path" is the reflection of the moon, stretched along the surface of the water.

Instructions:  For this spell you will need a bow and arrow. Take a new arrow and draw symbols of your wish/desire along its shaft. Meaningful words or phrases may also be added. On a night when the Moon is full, go to the shore, and face the water....

Wishing Spell

On the night of a new moon, write your wish on a bay leaf. Simply take the bay leaf outside and look at the moon, then kiss the leaf three times and sleep with it under your pillow.

Since the bay tree is governed by the sun and ruled by Leo, this charm is particularly potent when the sun is in Leo, between July 23 and August 22.

Gypsy Spell To Make A Wish Come True

On the day of the new moon, write your wish on a sheet of clean paper, then light a new, white votive candle. At this point turn off any artificial lighting that may be on.

For ten minutes, enjoy the flame's glow and think about the fulfillment of your wish. Then say:

As I sleep tonight,
may the divine power of spiritual love and light grant my wish....

It's Kite Flying Day!

Themes: Wishes; Freedom; Playfulness; Air; Movement
Symbols: Wind; Sailing Ships
Presiding Goddess: Shina Tsu Hime

About Shina Tsu Hime:
This Japanese wind goddess disperses the morning fog. She also keeps away evil, distracting winds, winds that threaten to uproot or blur our spiritual focus. Because of this, Shina Tsu Hime has become the patroness of sailors and farmers, the latter of whom pray to her for fertile winds bearing seed and rain....

Spell To Become A Mermaid

I do not vouch for this spell, but maybe, if you want it badly enough, and if the incantation is said with enough power and comviction... ??

While touching water on a full moon or during a solar eclipse say the following:

Mermaid now let it be.
Mermaid when wet so mote it be.
Human when dry so shall it be.
On land I walk.
In the sea I swim with a long_______(tail color) tail.
Blessed be.
And by the power of 3x3x3.....

Romany New Moon Ritual

The following is a Romany ritual to greet the New Moon. Greet each new moon by chanting something like this:

Here is the New Moon.
The New Moon has arrived.
Be lucky for me now.
You've found me penniless....

The Yule Wish Tree

Often, the items we truly need cannot ride home with us in a bag from the mall during the holiday season countdown. The day before Thanksgiving, take a trip to the tree nursery and find a small, potted evergreen. On your way home, purchase a few yards of red, green, and white ribbon.

During the Thanksgiving supper,...

Make A Maypole for Beltane

This isn't as difficult as you might think. Purchase a twenty foot wood pole from your local hardware store, or make a shorter one with a yardstick, broomstick, or even a twig. Set it up in your backyard.

Invite a group of friends, and ask each one to bring a 2 inch by 20 foot  length of brightly colored ribbon (or whatever the length of your pole). Alternatively, you could provide ribbons of various colors. At the top of the pole affix the different colored ribbons - one for each person....

Once In A Blue Moon Spell

Here's a great spell to utilize the magical properties of the Blue Moon. You will need the following:
  • A square of blue cloth or sturdy blue Christmas wrapping paper. Ideally, the cloth or paper will have moons and stars printed on it, alternatively you can decorate it yourself with glitter glue, stickers, etc.
  • 13 safety pins.
  • Paper and a pen.
  • Length of gold cord or ribbon...

Snapdragon - A Wishing Game

Here is an old old spell you can use as a way to say farewell to the Solstice and make a wish for the coming twelve months. It's less dangerous than it seems, though care should always be taken.
Fill a shallow dish with raisins and pour a few spoonfuls of brandy over them. As you pour the brandy, say the following:

You shall receive whatever gift you may name,
as far as wind dries, rain wets, sun revolves;
as far as sea encircless and earth extends....

Wishing on the Moon

Try to keep an eye open for the first appearance of the new moon in the sky. The lovely silver crescent of the new moon always fills me with awe and brings optimism for the coming month. Bow reverently three times, then turn your money over three times. Praise the beauty of the moon, and ask for her blessing in the month ahead.

Wishing on a star

This is a variation on the simple wishing on a star that many of us indulged in as children. In the Gypsy tradition, it goes like this:

Wish upon the first star you see in the night sky, on any night of the year...
Your wish will come true if a second star appears shortly afterward.

Make a wish

When two people coincidentally utter the same words at precisely the same moment, they should link fingers and each make a wish - the wishes will come true.
