I am currently in the process of migrating the content shared here to a series of new websites hosted at shirleytwofeathers.com.

As you explore this site, you may find links to a "page not found" instead of something cool and magickal. For this I apologize. I am very working hard behind the scenes to restore those pages along with a link to their homes on my new website where they can be viewed in full.

Pan de Muerto

The pan de muerto (Spanish for Bread of the Dead or Day of the Dead Bread) is a type of bread from Mexico baked during the Dia de los Muertos season, around the end of October and the official holiday is celebrated on November 2. It is a soft bread shaped in round loaves with strips of dough attached on top (to resemble bones), and usually covered or sprinkled with sugar....

Night of Hekate

November 16 is the Night of Hekate which begins at sunset. This is the night of the Three-formed Goddess. Hekate (also spelled Hecate) is part of the most ancient form of the triple Moon goddess as Crone or Dark Moon. This is also one of the nights of Hekate’s supper at the Crossroads. People who worshiped Hekate honoured Her by preforming Sympathetic Magick and holding a supper at a Crossroads; in addition, in ancient times animals were sacrificed in Her honour.

If you are looking for a way to honor the Goddess, or celebrate this night, here is a listing of spells, invocations, and information that might be helpful:

The Night Of The Crossroads

Tonight is the Night of the Crossroads, the day of the festival of Hecate Trivia, which is a day that honors Hecate as a goddess of crossroads. In pronouncing her name, in the Greek language the "H" is silent. The correct pronounciation is "E-CA-TA" or "e-CO-ta." The word trivia refers to a place where three roads meet (tri + via).

She is the Triple Goddess, and most often associated with a three-way crossroad. She is Hecate the Maiden, Hecate the Mother, and Hecate the Crone. Although the dark of the moon is her traditional time, Hecate can be called upon during any moon phase, as She is the One and the Three....

Festival of Odin

This ritual is held on or about the day of St. Martin, a Catholic saint who was given many of Odin's original attributes. There is strong evidence that this day (Nov 12) was originally a festival time devoted to Odin and to Cernunnos, who has many similarities to the Wanderer.

This is a time of festival for several families gathered together, each bringing food and drink for the potluck feast. Prior to the time of the rites, have a day of games and feasting. The ritual should be held out of doors if possible, with the area appropriately decorated for the season with grain, fruits, maize, vegetables, nuts, leaves and flowers...

Feast of Ullr

The Feast of Ullr was traditionally a hunting festival. Ullr, god of hunting, and the bow was honoured and a feast was shared by the tribe of the spoils of the hunt. I remember hearing somewhere about Skathi also being honoured on this day but I can’t recall where… Anyway, in addition to being the goddess of skiing, she also governs hunting and bows.

The tribe (or family) on this day would take a portion of the meat from the hunt and have a large and joyous feast before the winter sets in hard...

Calling Your Ancestors

This lovely little spell is great for Samhain.
It would also be appropriate if you celebrate The Day of the Dead.

It is simple but works wonders. It can also be used to protect and cast circles, for guidance, and most of all comfort. It gives me the warmth and guidance I seek WITHOUT fail!!

The Yule Wish Tree

Often, the items we truly need cannot ride home with us in a bag from the mall during the holiday season countdown. The day before Thanksgiving, take a trip to the tree nursery and find a small, potted evergreen. On your way home, purchase a few yards of red, green, and white ribbon.

During the Thanksgiving supper,...
