I am currently in the process of migrating the content shared here to a series of new websites hosted at shirleytwofeathers.com.

As you explore this site, you may find links to a "page not found" instead of something cool and magickal. For this I apologize. I am very working hard behind the scenes to restore those pages along with a link to their homes on my new website where they can be viewed in full.

Quickening Moon

The full moon in February is known as the Quickening moon, it marks the official end of winter, and the quickening, the renewal of all things. While the skies are still gray, and the weather is cold, beneath the surface life begins to secretly stir.

This moon phase is a time of abundance, ripening and completeness, heavy with fertility and female divinity. It is a time when the potential of all things begins to stir towards birth in spring, a time to work on our own inner power and confront personal truths in preparation for birth....

Why Stroking Crocodiles Is Ok

I found this really fun article about witches, crocodiles, and fertility rituals on a travel site, and had to share it here. Billed as the world's most dangerous tourist attraction, the concept is that stroking a crocodile makes a person extremely fertile. Here's the article:

According to one version of the local legend, the story of the Kachikally Sacred Crocodile Pool involves a cunning — but good natured — witch.

One day the witch was apparently crying by a well when a stranger came along. Claiming that her children had fallen down, she asked the man to help. The man climbed down to find them, searched hard but saw no trace. ..

Calling Ilmatar To Conceive A Child

The Finnish-Ugrian goddess Ilmatar was the virgin daughter of Air. she had immense creative powers, and was known as Water Mother, Daughter of  Nature, and Sky Mother. Legends say that she created the world and gave birth to the first great hero, Vainamoinen.

Here is a spell to call upon Ilmatar for help conceiving a child:

Decorate your sacred space with red eggs and small flowers. Burn a pink candle and rose incense. (Pink is for birth and love, not necessarily a girl-child.) Say:

Mother of all mothers, hear my cry.
My arms are empty, my heart full of love.
Ripen my body with a little child...

A Dramatic Infertility Solution

Among the most famous miracle-working rabbis was Judah the Pious (1150-1217), author of the influential Book of Angels. Although many other rabbis are credited with miracle cures, usually their methods aren't revealed - just vague tales of prayer and ritual. A legend, however, explicitly explains how Judah the Pious effected a cure and why it worked. Adapt to your own situation.

In the story, a woman who had previously borne children, now older (old enough to perform the ritual for their mother), wished to have another child but found herself unable to do so. She petitioned Judah the Pious for help.

His prescription? He had her children dig a grave for her and place her within it and pretend to mourn for her. Unknown to the woman...

Saint George Fertility Spell

Saint George's Eve is an extremely potent night for fertility rites. Crusaders encountered Saint George in Semitic West Asia and brought him home to Europe, where he is most famous for killing the dragon. Or did he? And why is he so helpful to women who wish to conceive? Some believe Saint George to be  Baal in disguise....

It's Midwives' Day

The ancients honored their midwives today (January 8) as the goddess's assistants by giving them gifts. In modern times, this might equate to sending a thank-you note to your physician or pediatrician.

  • Themes: Birth; Children; Creativity; Fertility
  • Symbols: A Torch; White Flowers
About Eleithyia:

As the aegean goddess of birth...

Cat In The Cradle Spell

In a ritual similar to the Thai Marital Fertility Spell, this time from Switzerland, approximately one month after the wedding, visiting friends should bring a tomcat (not neutered) and a cradle to the new couple's home. The cat is rocked in the cradle before the newlyweds.

Thai Marital Fertility Spell

In this Thai ritual, an older couple ritually prepares the bedroom so that it will be ready for use by the bride and groom. The room must be spiritually cleansed, protection set up and talismans left behind to radiate good fortune.

Talismans include bags of rice, sesame seeds, coins, and a tomcat (for happiness and fertility). The cat doesn't have to be a gift, it can be someone's pet that just hangs out in the room for a little while, emanating energy....

Spell to Conceive a Son

At your most fertile time of the month, place one red rose in a vase on a table.

Light a red candle, which is symbolic of Mars, ruler of vigor and vitality. Next, light a green candle. This color is associated with Venus, love, and harmony. Place it to the right of the red candle. Place a yellow candle, to represent the sun, above the red and the green candles to form a triangle. The number three represents the male reproductive organ, and sexual force....

Spell to Conceive A Daughter

You need to prepare and work this spell when you are reaching your most fertile time of the month.

The idea is to make a doll that resembles you as closely as possible. Take some modeling clay and mold it into the form of a pregnant woman, press hair from your comb into her head, dress her in clothes like yours, even cut out a photo of your face and place it on hers...
