I am currently in the process of migrating the content shared here to a series of new websites hosted at shirleytwofeathers.com.

As you explore this site, you may find links to a "page not found" instead of something cool and magickal. For this I apologize. I am very working hard behind the scenes to restore those pages along with a link to their homes on my new website where they can be viewed in full.

Hungry Ghosts

Samhain (aka Halloween) is a magical time of the year. It has Celtic roots. It marks the beginning of the "dark" part of the year. It's also the moment when the "veils" between the realms of the living and dead are "thinned" making communication easier.

You can actually invoke blessings from "hungry" ghosts ...

So sorry to do this to you, but this post has been moved to Book of Shadows hosted at shirleytwofeathers.com and can be found in it's entirety here: Hungry Ghosts

I've heard of leaving out food for the fairies, but never for the ghost. This is a wonderful idea, thanks for sharing!

Love your blog! I first came across the idea of Hungry Ghosts in Malaysia, and love the imagery it conjures up.

Patty - yes, usually honey and sweets are left for fairies...

Skyecoven - the idea is that it makes the ghosts feel appreciated and remembered - it won't bring them to you, what it will do is pacify and please the ones that are feeling unappreciated - in return - they will bring you luck. No need to worry about angry vindictive ghosts if you're the one feeding and appreciating them.

Danielle - I too love the imagery - and I'm glad you are enjoying the blog.

I had a hungry ghost hounding me. We moved into a new (for my wife and I) that dates back to the time of the Native Americans, bless their souls. I wonder if it has anything to do with the ghost dance that was performed on the property many years ago. Any ideas how to get rid of the ghosts? Ive tried a few simple things, but no results. Thank you.
