Fire Blessing

I will kindle this fire under the eyes of the Tuatha De Danann
under the eyes of Brigit daughter of the Dagda,
under the eyes of Aedh the bright one.
Without fear, jealousy or malice of any kind to anyone under the sun,
but with the light of the Goddess to protect me.

Goddess of the sun, kindle within me a fire of generosity and love to all:
To my friends, my kindred, my foes and kindle within me a fire of bravery,
eloquence and generosity of truth, strength and wealth, of beauty, charm and grace, so that I may inspire with my words.

May this fire be blessed in the eyes of the Ancient
but ever-present Gods.

Wolf Protection Spell

You will need:
  • 2 green candles
  • 1 white candle
  • Picture of a wolf/wolves
  • High John the Conquerer Essential oil (Geranium oil will substitute just fine)
  • Consecrated salt and water
  • Wine (any "lunar" drink will do mead, milk, ale, etc)
  • Honey cakes (any kind of sweet nourishing cake will do)
The pictures are to help focus the energy. The candles and oil are used to empower the spell. The consecrated water and salt are for sealing the circle. The wine and the cake is an offering of love and nourishment.

Instructions:
Gather your supplies, and on the night of the full moon, create a sacred space into which you will place the wolf pictures, the two candles, the cakes and the wine.

Rub the candles with the essential oil and light them. Using the salt, make a circle around your sacred space, and then sprinkle water at each of the four directions beginning in the North.

Sit or stand quietly and concentrate your energy on the wolf pictures, try to see, feel, hear, and smell the energy of wolves. If you have a recording of wolves howling - play it.

Now, chant the following:

"Candles three, green and white,
Bring protection here this night.
The Moon is full, the sky is clear,
Misfortune and evil disappear.
The mighty wolf shall ever reign,
and protect my family from harm and bane.
Come hither! Come hither!
Spirits of the Wolf, strong and great!
Guard and be guarded by this circle now
and throughout your life."

Break one of the cakes in half and eat it. Offer a blessing to the spirit of the wolf, and the light of the moon, and drink some of the wine. Then, take the remaining cakes and wine outside and leave it for the wild things to enjoy. Allow the candles to burn down, and place the wolf pictures in a safe and sacred place.

Wolf Moon

Tonight is the night of the Wolf Moon. This first full moon of the new year is a time of silence and sitting by the home fire. As the wild winter howls, appreciate the warmth of home and family.

Now is the time to go within and plan the changes you will make in the spring. Consider now what you will plant. Start a moon journal to record your lunar tides and write down your spring dreams.

Correspondences:
  • Colors: Black and white, silver
  • Gemstones: Hematite
  • Trees: Birch, Hazel
  • Gods: Inanna, Freyja
  • Herbs: Thistle, nuts and seeds, marjoram
  • Element: Air
Full Moon names started with Native Americans as tribes kept track of the seasons by giving distinctive names to each recurring full Moon. The names actually applied to the entire month in which each occurred. There was some variation in the names based on tribes. European settlers followed that custom and created some of their own names.

Sometimes it is also referred to as the Cold Moon, Old Moon, or the Moon After Yule. Some called it the Full Snow Moon, but Wolf Moon seems most appropriate, in native cultures, because amid the cold and deep snows of midwinter, the wolf packs howled hungrily outside their small villages, huts, and teepees. Since the lunar month is only 29 days long on the average, the full Moon dates shift from year to year.

This is a good time to work on magic related to protection, both physical and spiritual. Use this time to develop your inner self, and advance spiritually, becoming closer to the higher aspects of your deities.

Casting the Circle

By the earth that is her body
By the air that is her breath
By the fire of her spirit
By the waters of her womb
As above, so below,
The circle is made whole.

The Prayer To Selene For Any Spell

“Come to me, O Beloved Mistress, Three-faced
Selene; kindly hear my Sacred Chants;
Night’s Ornament, young, bringing Light to Mortals,
O Child of Morn who ride upon the Fierce Bulls,
O Queen who drive Your Car on Equal Course
With Helios, who with the Triple Forms
Of Triple Graces dance in Revel with
The Stars. You’re Justice and the Moira’s Threads:
Klotho and Lachesis and Atropos
Three-headed, You’re Persephone, Megaira,
Allekto, Many-Formed, who arm Your Hands
With Dreaded, Murky Lamps, who shake Your Locks
Of fearful Serpents on Your Brow, who sound
The Roar of Bulls out from Your Mouths, whose Womb
Is decked out with the Scales of Creeping Things,
With Pois’nous Rows of Serpents down the Back,
Bound down Your Backs with Horrifying Chains
Night-Crier, Bull-faced, loving Solitude,
Bull-headed, You have Eyes of Bulls, the Voice
Of Dogs; You hide Your Forms in Shanks of Lions,
Your Ankle is Wolf-shaped, Fierce Dogs are dear
To You, wherefore they call You Hekate,
Many-named, Mene, cleaving Air just like
Dart-shooter Artemis, Persephone,
Shooter of Deer, night shining, triple-sounding,
Triple-headed, triple-voiced Selene
Triple-pointed, triple-faced, triple-necked,
And Goddess of the Triple Ways, who hold
Untiring Flaming Fire in Triple Baskets,
And You who oft frequent the Triple Way
And rule the Triple Decades, unto me
Who’m calling You be gracious and with Kindness
Give Heed, You who protect the Spacious World
At night, before whom Daimons quake in Fear
And Gods Immortal tremble, Goddess who
Exalt Men, You of Many Names, who bear
Fair Offspring, Bull-eyed, Horned, Mother of Gods
And Men, and Nature, Mother of All Things,
For You frequent Olympos, and the broad
And boundless Chasm You traverse. Beginning
And End are You, and You Alone rule All.
For All Things are from You, and in You do
All Things, Eternal One, come to their End.
As Everlasting Band around Your Temples
You wear Great Kronos’ Chains, unbreakable
And unremovable, and You hold in
Your Hands a Golden Scepter. Letters ’round
Your Scepter Kronos wrote Himself and gave
To You to wear that All Things stay steadfast:
Subduer and subdued, Mankind’s Subduer,
And Force-subduer; Chaos, too, You rule.
Hail, Goddess, and attend Your Epithets,
I burn for You this Spice, O Child of Zeus,
Dart-shooter, Heav’nly One, Goddess of Harbors,
Who roam the Mountains, Goddess of Crossroads,
O Nether and Nocturnal, and Infernal,
Goddess of Dark, Quiet and Frightful One,
O You who have Your Meal amid the Graves,
Night, Darkness, Broad Chaos: Necessity
Hard to escape are You; You’re Moira and
Erinys, Torment, Justice and Destroyer,
And You keep Kerberos in Chains, with Scales
Of Serpents are You dark, O You with Hair
Of Serpents, Serpent-girded, who drink Blood,
Who bring Death and Destruction, and who feast
On Hearts, Flesh Eater, who devour Those Dead
Untimely, and You who make Grief resound
And spread Madness, come to my Sacrifices,
And now for me do You fulfill this Matter.”

About Mace

Mace is a spice made from the waxy red covering which covers nutmeg seeds. It is completely different from the protective pepper spray with the same name.

Mace is produced by, Myristica franrans, a member of the mayriticaceae family. This plant, native to Indonesia, grows into a tropical evergreen tree of up to thirty feet tall.

The seed of this tree, which we know as nutmeg, is encased in several edible layers. The outer most is a small, golden colored fruit with reddish spots. The next layer is a red, web like, seed membrane called an aril. Mace is a spice made from this red waxy covering. The mace aril encapsulates the endosperm, or nutmeg seed.

Fresh nutmeg mace has a bright red color which, turning dark-orange to brown when dried. The leaves of this tree are long dark green, and oblong. its small white flowers form in clusters at the ends of the branches.

Magickal Uses for Mace:

Sprinkle some outside doors and windows for protection. Mace also stimulates brain activity and creativity. Smell the spice for inspiration, or mix with success forumlas and burn as incense. You can also dust your hands with the powder.

Chanting For Financial Windfall

You will need:
  • A quiet place
  • Candles and Incense
Light your candles and incense.

Sit for a moment and think hard about the exact amount of money you need. See the money. See yourself holding it; counting it. Imagine not that it will come, but that it has come that you now have it. With this in mind, you may start the chant.

Try to think of the words, of what you say, as you chant them. Get the rhythm so that it is automatic. It is the rhythm that draws out your power and sends it on its way. Sit, stand, or kneel; whichever is most comfortable. You can even dance around in a circle. Anything you feel will help draw on your desire and send it pounding through the air to its goal can, and should be used.

NOTES:

Whatever your financial need, you can meet it. Remember, though, that you are only to seek what you need.... if you want money just for the sake of having it, it is unlikely to work.

It is preferable that these chants be done on a Wednesday, but don't let that deter you from using these chants any time they are needed. Suggested incense is a mixture of Pepperwort, Saffron, and Nutmeg, however any incense for success and prosperity will be fine. Spells for increase are best done during the waxing moon.

THE CHANT:

Suddenly I see the pile,
Suddenly I hold the sum,
Suddenly I end my trial,
For the money - it has come!

For the money that I need,
For the need that is so strong,
For those words that I do read
Brings the money right along.

Brings the money without waiting,
Brings the money right to me,
Brings the answer to my waiting,
Suddenly I will be free.

Look hard into the smoke of the incense and, again, see the money in your hands. Again chant:

For the money that I need,
For the need that is so strong,
For those words that I do read
Brings the money right along.

Brings the money without waiting,
Brings the answer right to me,
Brings the answer to my waiting,
Suddenly I will be free.

Close your eyes, place your finger tips on your temples, and again see the money in your possession. After a few moments of this visualization, open your eyes again and chant:

Suddenly I see the pile,
Suddenly I hold the sum,
Suddenly I end my trial,
For the money - it has come!

Need Money?

Need, need, need;
Money, money, money!
Me, me, me;
Money, money, money!
Now, now, now;
Money, money, money!
Need, need, need;
Money, money, money!
Me, me, me;
Money, money, money!
Now, now, now;
Money, money, money!
Bring the money to fill the need;
Yes, bring the money to fill the need.
Now my power has done the deed.

Instructions:

A Pile of Money

Lika a flash of lightning bright,
Stabbing suddenly down to earth;

Come to me, yes, give it birth!
Money, money - silver, gold;
Pouring, rushing, piling high,
All I want to meet my needs
Will come to me, yes, by and by.

Stream into river.
River into sea;
Let the rivers of money
Flow straight through to me.
Swift is the current
And fast is the flow;
So let all my coffers
With gold overflow!

Money From Nowhere

Out of the nowhere,
Out of the air;
Out of the darkness
To aid me, I swear.
Pile upon pile
Of silver, of gold;
Come without warning
As you have been told!

Instructions:
Find a quiet place, light a candle or two, and some incense. Sit for a moment and think hard about the exact amount of money you need. See the money. See yourself holding it; counting it. Imagine not that it will come, but that it has come that you now have it. With this in mind, start the chant.

At The Crossroads

Crossroads are considered sacred in almost all magical traditions. A crossroads is a universally accepted place to hold rituals, leave offerings, or dispose of items you wish to be rid of.

It is believed that Hecate rules over the three-way crossroads. She can see the past, present, and future. It is said that if you should approach a three-way crossroads at night, you would hear her black dogs howling. Her altars have been erected at such places for centuries.

The four-way crossroads are considered to be powerful because all four directions meet at one point. Dirt, rocks, and sticks gathered from such a crossroads are said to have powerful spiritual connections, albeit tricky ones to master. In Greek myths, Oedipus met his fate at the crossroads. From the Yoruban people we have Legba (a god known for his clever tricks) ruling the crossroads.

The strength of Ellegua lies at the crossroad. He is the remover of obstacles. An offering of twenty-one pennies and three candies left at the crossroad will prompt him to be kind and remove the roadblocks in your life.

Ancient people were afraid of what it meant when one direction met another direction. All manner of folklore is available concerning the crossroads. Fairies are said to hang out there, along with gouls, ghosts, and goblins. Even the Christian Satan is said to roam the crossroads.

Times Square in New York City is known as the "Crossroads of the World." A true urban crossroads is any intersection where 3 or 4 roads mead and then continue outward unobstructed for eight city blocks in each direction. If any one path is blocked by a dead end, a cul de sac, or a park, it is not a true crossroad.

Metaphysically, a crossroads is a place of sacred transformations, a metaphor for transformational points in our lives, and relate to time and choices.  It is a place to go to unblock your path.

Who is Ellegua?

In Yoruba mythology, Ellegua is an Orisha (spirit) associated with "opening the ways", or crossroads. Often depicted as a child or a small man, he is a playful; a trickster and a strategist amongst the divinities.

Worshippers often have a cement head with a metal spike in the top, and cowrie shells for eyes and mouth, as a representation of Ellegua which receives offerings and protects in return.

Santeria practitioners often have an Ellegua head behind their front door as he is said to protect the entry way and prevent harm from entering the dwelling.

Receiving a consecrated Ellegua head is part of the Santeria initiation known as Los Guerreros (the Warriors).

Ellegua is said to like candy, toys, and coconut as offerings, or anything children would enjoy. In return he helps people overcome various problems.

The strength of Ellegua lies at the crossroad. he is the remover of obstacles. An offering of twenty-one pennies and three candies left at the crossroad will prompt him to be kind and remove the roadblocks in your life.

In the Ifá tradition practiced by the Babalawo, ellegua is used to open the way for the of prophesy orunmila.

It is said that Ellegua is a manifestation of Eshu, a primordial force that spawned out of a rock. The mother of Ellegua is said to be Oya.

Ellegua's fills a similar role in Santeria as Papa Legba in Vodou.

What Is Meditation?

Meditation is the art of clearing the mind of all mundane thoughts, feelings and the general white noise of day-to-day living. It is a state of relaxation and peace, a state where you can control what you deal with and which thoughts and feelings you allow to pass through your consciousness.

This takes some practice, but an ideal way to get started is to make sure you have a quiet space where you will not be disturbed. Unplug the telephone, switch off the television, close the window if there is a lot of noise outside, make sure the place doesn’t smell of food or unpleasant and make sure you are comfortable (and that includes not being hungry or needing the lavatory!).

Clearing your mind isn’t always easy, but a simple technique is to imagine that your mind is a cinema screen and your thoughts are projected onto it – you then have to dispose of the mental clutter, until your cinema screen is clear, white and ready to project what you want on to it. Your mind must be at peace so that you can focus on what you're trying to accomplish.

When you first start to meditate, it may be challenging to stop all the thoughts of daily life from getting in the way. A really good way of dealing with all the impinging thoughts is to acknowledge them, put them on to a little, fluffy cloud and float them into the distance - so far that they disappear. An alternative is to have a litter-bin wherever your meditation place is - it works well if you're in a park - and every time a thought intrudes, pick it up, screw it up and put it in the bin. It works.

It takes patience and regular practice, but even if you try clearing and quieting your mind before you go to sleep each night, you’ll find that you get good at it pretty quickly (and probably sleep better too).

During meditation the brain enters an altered state of consciousness - known as 'alpha' - a state also entered during deep relaxation and dreaming. In the alpha state the brain waves register at between seven and fourteen cycles . This is close to the background energy cycles of the Earth itself. Through practise, work in the alpha state can open one up to a whole new, much broader, sense of reality then hitherto discovered. Not only can one benefit enormously from temporarily by-passing the glamours of the ego to gain contact and communication with ones higher self, but one is also better able to develop skills such as telepathy, clairvoyance and pre-cognition. It is in the alpha state that we are able to enter and explore the other planes of reality that include the astral and spiritual planes creating a situation where we are much more open and receptive to the energies that exist all around us, rather just those on the more commonly recognised physical plane.

Alpha is a state where we can expand into the vibrationary rates of the other planes of existence. It is whilst working between these planes where much of the occult work is undertaken - which will be discussed more fully later in this book. Meditation is basically the means by which we gain access to the quantum reality; a greater sense of the breadth of reality than we are commonly aware of as a young adolescent, or even as an adult if we haven't looked explored beyond the materialistic physical plane.

Visualisation work during meditation is a vital element in magic whether it be used, as many do, for healing purposes or other intentions. Another technique for those who may struggle with meditations, or even for the more advanced who want to work on specific issues or courses of action, is a guided meditation. This should only ever be carried out with somebody you trust and who knows what they are doing as it can involve going much deeper than you would usually delve on your own, although one can have some success using pre-recorded tapes (preferably those you have prepared yourself). You can learn to use such techniques to reach the higher self where past life memories reside. You will discover that it is here that we can discover many of the blockages and fears that effect our current incarnation.

Secret Remedy for Healing the Cancer

Here we have the Secret Remedy of the Great Theophrastus Paracelsus for Healing the Cancer. This celebrated recipe is composed as follows:

When a human being takes hold with his right hand of a live mole, and keeps the mole so long with a tight grip until it dies, such a hand obtains by dint of this miraculous proceeding, such marvelous power, that cancer boils, repeatedly rubbed, by moving up and down with this hand, will break open, cease to form again, and entirely vanish.

It's Distaff's Day

It's Distaff's Day and time to get back to work after the holidays. (According to Old English tradition, that is.) From Chambers Book of Days, we have this explanation:

As the first free day after the twelve by which Christmas was formerly celebrated, the 7th of January was a notable one among our ancestors. They jocularly called it St. Distaff's Dag, or Rock Dag, because by women the rock or distaff was then resumed, or proposed to be so. The duty seems to have been considered a dubious one, and when it was complied with, the ploughmen, who on their part scarcely felt called upon on this day to resume work, made it their sport to set the flax a-burning; in requital of which prank, the maids soused the men from the water-pails.

"Partly work and partly play.
Ye must on Saint Distaff's day;
From the plough soon free the team,
Then come home and fother them;
If the maid a spinning goe,
Burn the flax and fire the towe,
Bring in pails of water then
Let the maids bewash the menne;
Give Saint Distaff all the right
Then bid Christmas sports good-night,
And next morrow every one.
To his own vocation."

This is an excellent day for spells involving sewing, weaving, mending, and also for practical jokes and family fun.

Spell for Confidence

Ingredients:

  • Lavender Oil
  • Clary sage Oil
  • Grapefruit
  • Red candle
  • Sandalwood incense
Procedure:
This is a relatively easy spell. Confidence is an emotion which is easy to develop. Now to do this spell you must first remember to bathe in lavender oil (5-6 drops in your bath are enough). Once done with that, light the candle and place it near the window. Keep the grapefruit next to it and split it open. Now repeat the following lines 3 times

“Let the light of this flame
Enlighten my soul tonight
Let the spirit of confidence,
Fortify my soul with its might.”

Or else keep repeating it till you feel strong. To end the spell, cover the grapefruit with 12 drops of clary sage essential oil. And burn the incense. Leave the whole set up by the window for a couple of days. Wait till the grapefruit dries up completely. Do not touch the grapefruit till it dries away. Once all is done drying, place the whole set up in a box and dispose it off in the nearest water supply. Repeat first part of this spell (the bath, the candle, and the incantation) for 10 days until there is a surge of confidence in your soul.

Activate Your Money Magic

You'll need the following:
  • A decorative bowl
  • 5 small red candles - tealights make an excellent choice
  • Cinnamin Stick - for prosperity
  • Allspice - for success
  • Handful of spare change.
The change represents your "seed" money. Whatever you have in your pocket, or in the bottom of your purse will do just fine. Put the money, the cinnamin stick, one of the red votive candles in the bowl. Sprinkle the candle and the money with a generous pinch of allspice. As you sprinkle the allspice say the following:

Trinka five
Trinka five
My money magic
Comes alive!

Light the candle and allow it to burn all the way down. The next day, remove the spent candle and add any spare change that you may have accumulated. Remember to say "thank you." Now, put the second red candle on top of the money, sprinkle the allspice, and say the charm.

Do this for five days in a row, and your money magic will be activated, empowered, recharged, and amplified.

What if you end up with so much spare change that your bowl is filled with money before the 5 days are up? Or if you absolutely need to use some of it? No worries. You can take money from the bowl, just be sure to leave at least 5 coins.

More About Allspice

Botanical: Pimenta dioica (formerly known as Pimenta officinalis)
Family: Myrtaceae (myrtle/clove)
Other common names: Clove Pepper, Jamaica Pepper, Pimento, Myrtle Pepper

Beneficial Uses:

Allspice is an aromatic stimulant and carminative for the gastro-intestinal tract. As such, it has been helpful in treating diarrhea and also helps to correct flatulent indigestion and the “griping” tendencies (sharp pains and grumbling in the bowels) often associated with the use of laxatives.

As a pungent, warming herb, Allspice has a tonic effect on the digestive system, improving digestive disorders, such as dyspepsia, colic and indigestion, and is also known to pep up a sluggish appetite.

The essential oil in Allspice is considered a tonic for the nervous system and exerts a gentle, strengthening effect on the nerves. It believed to be useful in the treatment of nervous exhaustion, hysterical paroxysms and convulsions.

Allspice is considered an antioxidant or substance that prevents free radical or oxidative damage to body tissue and cells.

Allspice is very warming and when used externally helps to relieve chest infections and the pains of rheumatism and muscle soreness.

Recommended Dosage:

Take one to two capsules, two times each day with water at mealtimes.

Contraindications:

Allspice is not recommended for pregnant women or nursing mothers.

All About Allspice

Native to the Caribbean Islands (most notably Jamaica), South and Central America, Allspice is an evergreen tree that grows to a height of fifty feet. It is a tender, aromatic tree with thin, oblong, leathery leaves and small, white flowers that bloom in the spring and summer. The flowers are followed by the dark brown berries that are so important in herbal medicines and cuisines, and the tree thrives in rich, well-drained, sandy soil in sun at a minimum of fifty-nine degrees Fahrenheit.

Allspice was discovered growing in Jamaica by early Spanish explorers who were impressed with the taste and aroma of the leaves and berries, and it has been in continuous production there since about 1509. Because Allspice resembles peppercorns, it was named pimenta by the Portuguese and pimienta by the Spanish - both meaning pepper.

Used mainly as a spice and condiment, Allspice was in great demand as a soothing anesthetic in baths to relieve sore muscles and made a stimulating spice plaster to relieve rheumatism and neuralgia. At the end of the nineteenth century, it became fashionable to have umbrellas and walking sticks made of pimento, leading to strict enforcement of controls that saved the young trees from disappearing altogether. Allspice, with its flavor of cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg, has always been an important spice and condiment and was added to mulled wine and curry, among other dishes. It has also been used widely to improve the flavor of commercial medicines.

The main constituents of Allspice are the volatile oils found in its seeds and phenol eugenol (which doubtless gives it its clove-like odor). Some of the other constituents include a fixed oil (bonastre), tannin, gum, resin, malic and gallic acids, lignin, and it is also a natural source of beta-carotene and other important nutrients.

Allspice for Success and Luck

Allspice is widely considered to be lucky and is used by many people for the purpose of bringing good fortune in business, money matters, and games of chance.

This aromatic spice is especially effective when cooked in water in a double boiler to fill a room with its scent. Doing so opens the brain centers to greater achievement and creates a happy, efficient work environment.

Other ways to use it include the following::
  • Add Allspice to any success formula to increase chances of beating out the competition.
  • Carry the whole berries in your pocket to improve your chances on interview or winning clients and making sales.
  • Sprinkle the powder across a place of business or dust the hands when you want to succeed.
For winnings in games of chance (cards, slots, keno, dice, the racetrack, the lottery, and bingo) carry Allspice berries in a small green flannel bag. To enhance your chances of winning, add one or more of the following lucky money herbs: Nutmeg, Chamomile, Bayberry, Cinnamon, Alfalfa, Irish Moss, John the Conqueror. Before handling your cash (ticket, cards, etc), recite the 23rd Psalm while concentrating on your desires.

If you have access to a living Allspice tree, crush a leaf between your fingers and rub a little behind your ears when preparing to go on a date or interview. It's guaranteed to make you more appealing.

Listening To Your Needs

This is something nice to do as a substitute for the New Years Resolutions we make and break every year.

Make a list of the real wants and needs that you have within you. Maybe you need to give yourself more time, or speak out about the desire for recognition of the person you really are... Only you know what you really want and need. Write it down.

Now, consider the whole nature of gift giving and the appropriateness of the things you yourself have given and received this year. Then, make a present to yourself of one of the things you just listed.

If it requires a phone call, make that call. If it means something must be purchased and you can't afford it, start by putting pennies in a jar. Do you need to rearrange your schedule? Enroll in a class? Whatever it is... get started right now, today.

Need some help taking that first small step.? Here's a small blessing spell from me to you:

Take, and welcome joy within you:
Showers, flowers, powers,
Hatfulls, capfulls, lapfulls,
Treasures, measures, pleasures,
All be yours to enjoy.
Blessed Be.
