Writing a New Moon Check

Anybody can use some extra cash, especially if it means being able to buy a particular item, save for a vacation, or simply to kick back and enjoy a night out on the town. A great way to manifest a desired amount of money is to write yourself a New Moon Check.

As in the graphic above, it's a check you write to yourself in the amount you want to create or manifest. It's a New Moon Check because you write it during the first 24 hours of a new moon, when manifesting magick is strongest.

Before you begin writing your check, think about how much you might want to create, whether it's based on meeting your financial obligations, or for something that is purely recreational. The general rule of thumb is to write the check for an amount you truly believe to be possible to manifest. For example, if you wrote your check for one million dollars, but yet, you have strong beliefs that that is not possible, that one million dollars will probably take a very long time to manifest in your life, most likely only after you have worked through any limiting beliefs. Therefore, if you want to see results quickly, it would be wisest to ask for a reasonable amount of money.

Try not to think of yourself as needing this amount of money, as needing often implies lack; instead, imagine this amount of money as adding to your prosperity. Imagine that you already have the amount of money you are manifesting, right this second. What would you do with it? How do you feel with this money in your life? Play it out in your imagination with as much detail as possible. Imagine these feelings of joy and prosperity to radiate out into the Universe. As you do this, you are becoming magnetic to whatever it is you focus upon.

Finally, when you're done, hold your check in your hands and surround it with white light, and then release it fully and completely. It's important not to hold any attachments to the results of this exercise; simply acknowledge that the money will begin flowing into your life immediately thereafter, and trust that the Universe will find the easiest way to do so.

Put your check somewhere safe and try not to think about it for the next 28 days. During this time, be especially alert to opportunities that come your way, and pay attention to your intuition, as it can guide you to your money sooner. You also want to acknowledge any money that comes your way with gratitude, including any expected income; this will send messages to the Universe that you are ready to receive even more of what you have.

When the next new moon comes, take your check out and review how much money you have received in the past 28 days. If you managed to manifest the amount you wrote in the check, congratulations! If not, write yourself another check and repeat the process until you do manifest successfully.

The Magic of Basil

To attract love and money, bring the magic of Basil into your home. It's amazing what something as simple as fresh basil can do.

  • Grow basil in your garden and around the house.
  • Place pots of fresh basil by your front entrance and around the perimeter of your home.

  • If it's not possible to grow basil, then place fresh basil in a vase in a prominent spot in your kitchen, replacing it weekly or as soon as it starts to spoil.
  • Cook with it, and incorporate it into spell work by placing it in a vase on your altar.

A Sun Power Spell

The following spell uses the August Sun to empower a cord or ribbon. This can be used in knot magic later in the winter, when the Sun’s strength has ebbed. Before the summer ends, obtain a yellow or gold-colored cord and offer it to the August Sun. Let it absorb the sunlight and say:

Before autumn leaves, Protect me from winter’s grief.
I thank the Lady;
I thank the Lord
For the power flowing through this cord.

To complete the spell, tie six knots in the cord. During winter, if you need some solar power to energize a ritual light an orange candle and untie one knot.

The Stone Oracle

Divination with Metals and Stones

This system is based on the concept that your connection with a particular stone or metal at times during your life reflects your need for its specific energy on the direction of your path.

Ancient diviners had splendid collections of stones and metals that they had the querist (the person questing for information) choose from. Today we may make our own collections, using samples found on our journey. It is not necessary to have fabulous, expensive stones and metal samples - rough uncut forms work quite effectively.

You may have the querist select three or four in order of preference, or just one to use for a specific question. You might also have them pick one for past, one to represent present, and one for future. If you work with the stones every day, you will begin to find your own best way to utilize them.

After a stone or metal has been selected, you might ask why that one seemed attractive in regard to the issue being discussed. If you do this before you interpret, you will find it amazing how many times the querist already "knows" the property of the stone and has chosen the exact one most needed at that time. You might also advise the querist to obtain a similar stone for use as a totem.

NOTE: The same meanings and significances apply if a specific stone or metal shows up unexpectedly in your own life, or if you feel a particular draw to a stone or metal.

A Circle of Protection and Love

The Mother's Cloak - An Invocation
A Circle of Protection and Love

Luna

The Mother wraps Her cloak around us.
Thus we are protected.

The Mother takes the girdle from Her waist,
and wraps it around us.
Thus we are held within Her passion for Her consort.
Thus we are held within Her passion for us.
Thus we are held within Her Passion for Herself.

Around us the Mother lets down Her hair -
blond like beach sand,
dark like earth and the empty far readhes of space.
She lets Her hair down around us,
that we may nestle within it like children
playing, hidden within the bowers of a weeping willow.

Her arms encircle us in her love.

She pulls from Her body Joyfire,
Joyfire whose name is God, Our Father,
and She wraps this circle of joy around us.
Around us are the elements of life that are Herself in truth-
by these we are protected, calmed,
given peace and joy.

Within this circle we share space with the animal peopple,
with the land, and the land of spirits,
within the weaving of all the Cosmos.

-oOo-

This invocation is particularly wonderful if used when casting a circle, and/or before any magic or ritual. It can also be used in times of deep stress, worry, or fear.
